Have you ever noticed that when you stop to breathe, to really attend to the breath, your mind stops too? At the end of this sentence I invite you to pause, notice your inhale, your exhale, the sensations, the flow.
My yoga teacher once taught me that my breath initiates my movement. Now I’m inviting you to let breath initiate your reading. Let’s breathe now, together, and empty our busy minds; let’s breathe, now, together, and be with these words.

Welcome to the first of my monthly blogs! In today’s post I want to share my goals for this blog, a little about my journey to Emotion Code, and one client story that was a heartwarming, ah-ha moment.
My goals for this blog
I am filled with gratitude for a client’s recommendation to send out occasional emails, which was the inspiration for creating this space for periodic writing and sharing. I feel excited to begin the blogging journey, and I hold these goals in mind:
To enjoy myself and process through writing;
To put into words the reflecting, learning, growing, and inspiration that I experience as an Emotion Code Practitioner;
To educate readers about Emotion Code, energy work, and health and wellness, especially as they relate to one another; and
To share client stories (with permission) that inspire me and highlight the power of this work.
Ultimately, my hope is that we, reader and writer, will both be gloriously fed by engaging with and breathing with these words.
A little about my journey to Emotion Code
Emotion Code is one of the energy work modalities that helped me reconnect with my energy, clarity, and sense of wellness after three years of the struggle and fear that came with undiagnosable illness. Conventional medicine could not explain why I was experiencing extreme digestive distress, intense fatigue, weight loss, and thick brain fog.
At the time, I was serving as Garden Manager and Community Outreach Coordinator for a local Parks and Recreation Department. As I labored to complete the garden work and support the high school interns, I sometimes paused under the trees to let dizziness pass. I packed rice cakes with coconut butter for snacks, in my newest iteration of a cycle of restricted diets. At night, I crashed on the couch, feeling brain dead and fried, barely managing to put together simple food for my kids. Blood work and a colonoscopy indicated to my family practice doctor that I was okay. This did not feel like "okay."
Desperate, I hardly had the brain power to figure out where to turn. At the recommendation of a friend, I started extensive supplementation based on thorough blood testing and hair analysis provided by Take 2 Healthcare. This allowed me to regain lost weight, find more energy, and let go of desperation. I added support from an Ayurvedic Practitioner and started to see digestive improvements and a reduction in brain fog; however, I seemed to plateau at mild digestive distress and recurring fogginess. At this point, my Ayurvedic Practitioner referred me to an energy worker trained in Emotion Code and Body Code, among other modalities.
This was a monumental turning point in my life! During our initial session, in March of 2020, she told me I was a wreck. For the first time, I felt validation of my sense of my health and hope for recovery. Healing began in earnest as, session after session, she identified energy imbalances and corrected them, allowing my energies to flow smoothly again. After one month, I started eating a more diverse diet, enjoying cheese, peanut butter, bread, and chocolate (among other things) once more. I savored the clear thinking I rediscovered, and I started to feel like myself again.
This timing coincided with the Covid-19 lockdown and I experienced illogical fear reactions to pandemic conversations, news, and even the cooperative board game Pandemic. I was so emotionally triggered I couldn’t even listen as my partner and friends played the game. I share this tidbit because, after an Emotion Code session, my fear reaction was completely gone. I could finally enjoy playing the board game myself! These experiences made me a passionate believer in the power of energy work and Emotion Code.
When my energy worker told me I have the gift to do this work too, I was uncertain and intrigued. She taught me the basics of releasing Trapped Emotions from myself and my kids. It felt surreal, nothing at all like the hands-on work with plants and soil to which I was accustomed. I started playing around with it, full of curiosity and skepticism. Was I actually finding a real Trapped Emotion? Was I actually clearing it? She encouraged me, validated my early attempts, and was there to fan the flame as my interest and passion ignited.
Awe and wonder, with a nagging sense of doubt and disbelief, accompanied my reading of The Emotion Code and the beginning of my certification course. Now everything I see and experience as I practice Emotion Code with clients, family, and friends, deepens the awe and wonder and dispels the doubt and disbelief. If ever there was evidence of the magic and miracle that it is to be a living being, this is it. My amazement at the way our bodies and energy systems are integrated and function together is strengthened every day. What an incredible creation we are and are part of!
I’m deeply grateful to my energy worker for catalyzing my exploration into the field of energy work. I love this work, believe in its potential, and offer myself as a vessel for helping others thrive. I feel richly blessed to be able to share Emotion Code with clients, family and friends!
One client story
During a session with one client, we noticed angst and worry around food, timing, and logistics that had plagued them for much of their adult life, making it nerve-wracking to go camping, be on vacation, and engage in other activities outside the predictable routines of daily life. In the quiet of our session space, we identified and cleared one Trapped Emotion after another, until their body wisdom directed us to stop. We paused, and I asked them to notice what they were feeling now, while thinking of this lifelong burden.
“Empty.”
The space inside, where thoughts and emotions had been turbulent, was still. We quietly observed the shift and settled into awe and gratitude for the power and beauty of this work.

The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence.
When our mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers.
